Cladium mariscus subsp. jamaicense Kük., legitimate, scientific tax. nov. apni
Kükenthal, G. in Peter, A. (1937), Cyperaceen, in Flora von Deutsch-Ostafrika. Repertorium Specierum Novarum Regni Vegetabilis Beihefte 40(1): 523 [tax. nov.]
  • Type: "Trop. und subtrop. Amerika ! Hawaii Inseln ! Malaya ! China ! Japan ! Capverden ! Angola ! Südafrika: von Transvaal ! und Natal ! bus Kapland ! Madagascar ! Mauritius !
taxonomic synonym: Cladium jamaicense Kük. nom. inval., pro syn.
  • Comment: Kükenthal cited this name as "Cladium mariscus... subsp. jamaicense (Crantz) Kükenth. comb. nova" and listed "Cladium jamaicense Crantz" as the intended basionym. The designation "Cladium jamaicense" was published without a description or diagnosis by Crantz and had not been validated by subsequent authors. Since Kükenthal provides a diagnosis for his new subspecies, his name is here treated as being that of a new taxon under ICN Art. 6.14 (Shenzhen Code, 2018), rather than a new combination.
