The Australian Plant Name Index (APNI) is a tool for the botanical community that deals with plant names and their usage in the scientific literature, whether as a current name or synonym. APNI does not recommend any particular taxonomy or nomenclature. For a listing of currently accepted scientific names for the Australian vascular flora, please use the Australian Plant Census (APC) link above.

Comment: Kükenthal cited this name as "Cladium mariscus... subsp. jamaicense (Crantz) Kükenth. comb. nova" and listed "Cladium jamaicense Crantz" as the intended basionym. The designation "Cladium jamaicense" was published without a description or diagnosis by Crantz and had not been validated by subsequent authors. Since Kükenthal provides a diagnosis for his new subspecies, his name is here treated as being that of a new taxon under ICN Art. 6.14 (Shenzhen Code, 2018), rather than a new combination.
