Listed for Australia by M.A.Clements, Austral. Orchid Res. 1: 53 (1989) and A.D.Chapman, Austral. Pl. Name Index 536 (1991) and A.W.Dockrill, Austral. Indig. Orchids 2nd edn, 1: 452 (1993), in error, under the assumption that the name was based on the Australian Dendrobium elongatum A.Cunn. However, C.E.O.Kuntze, Revis. Gen. Pl. 2: 654 (1891), clearly lists the basionym of his new combination as "elongata [Bl.] (Ldl.)".
