The name "Caladenia varians subsp. varians" is listed by N.Hoffman & A.Brown, Orchids South-West Australia 2nd edn, 33 (1992) and S.D.Hopper & A.P.Brown, Nuytsia 14(1/2): 281 (under Caladenia vulgata), but as the species name had not been validly published (ICN Art. 35.1 (Melbourne Code (2012)) this autonym is not established.
