- Chapman, APNI 1081 (1991) lists "Duranta plumieri var. alba Bailey, nom. illeg." and "Duranta plumieri var. ellisia Bailey, nom. illeg.". Bailey did not provide authors for any of his infraspecific taxa in this or contemporary works, and there is no indication that he was attempting to establish new names. Rather, he was adopting names already published, without attribution. These taxa should be attributed as D. plumieri var. alba Mast. and D. plumieri var. ellisia (L.) Hort. ex Woodrow. In the same work Chapman (1991) claims the following combinations by Domin (1928): "Duranta repens var. alba (F.M.Bailey) Domin", Duranta repens var. ellisia (F.M.Bailey) Domin", "Duranta repens var. normalis (F.M.Bailey) Domin" and "Duranta repens f. variegata (F.M.Bailey) Domin". Although Domin implied that these combinations might be made, he did not actually make them.
