A widespread taxon, recorded by various authors (e.g. C.P.J.Sprengel, Syst. Veg. 4(2): Cur. Post. 26 (1827); C.S.Kunth, Enum. Pl. 2: 279 (1805); E.G. von Steudel, Syn. Pl. Glumacearum 2(8-9): 137 (1855); J.O.Boeckler, Linnaea 37(6): 559 (1873)), under various names, but not known to occur in Australia.
