A.D.Chapman, Austral. Pl. Name Index 2792 (1991) treats Swainsona procumbens (F.Muell.) F.Muell. as illegitimate, on the basis that Cyclogone procumbens F.Muell. and Cyclogyne swainsonioides Benth. were both cited in synonymy. However, in accordance with Art. 52.3, Ex. 14 of the ICBN (2006), Mueller's name was superfluous when published, but not illegitimate. A.T.Lee, in J.M.Black, Fl. S. Australia, 2nd edn 2: 470 (1948) was the first author to treat Swainsona procumbens and S. swainsonoides as separate taxa. See also A.T.Lee, Natl. Herb. New S. Wales, Contr. 1: 223 (1948) for a discussion of the types of these taxa.
