- A very polymorphic species. Putative hybrids are recorded between A. paradoxa and A. ausfeldii, A. leprosa and A. stricta in Vic (Court in Willis, A Handbook to Plants in Victoria Edn. 2, 1973; Maslin, 2001). Putative hybrids are recorded between A. paradoxa and A. dodonaeifolia, A. gracilifolia, A. montana and A. triquetra in SA (Whibley & Symon, Acacias of South Australia, 1992; Maslin, 2001). The 'Acacia armata var. angustifolia Benth. (1855), nom. illeg.' of Chapman in Australian Plant Name Index 18 (1991) is merely a later use by Bentham of that name, coined by him in 1842 (he referred directly to the earlier publication).
