APC Comment
A.D.Chapman, Austral. Pl. Name Index 2597 (1991) stated that Poiret did not validly make the combination Schoenus sphaerocephalus and indicated that the combination was validly made by Roemer & Schultes (Syst. Veg. 16th edn, 2: 77 (1817)). However, under Article 33.1 of the 2006 (Vienna) edition of the ICBN, this name is considered to be validly published by Poiret and Roemer & Schultes' use of this name is considered to be a secondary reference.
