- There is considerable divergence of opinion on the recognition of varieties within this species. In South Australia, Queensland and New South Wales 6 varieties are recognised, following Rye (Flora of Australia 18: 165-167 (1990)). In Victoria it is suggested that the limits of their infraspecific taxa should be defined differently, whereas Tasmania drops the varietal rank altogether. Rye's varieties are maintained pending a full revision.
