R.S.Cowan, Fl. Australia 12: 13 (1998) inadvertently created the new combination M. invisa f. inermis, mistakenly using the rank of forma rather than variety. At the same time he listed as a synonym "M. invisa var. inermis (Adelb.) Verdc." in error for M. invisa var. inermis Adelb. (= M. diplotricha var. inermis (Adelb.) Verdc.), but this can be ignored as just an error of citation.
