Vascular Plants
Australian Plant Name Index (APNI)
The Australian Plant Name Index (APNI) is a tool for the botanical community that deals with plant names and their usage in the scientific literature, whether as a current name or synonym. APNI does not recommend any particular taxonomy or nomenclature. For a listing of currently accepted scientific names for the Australian vascular flora, please use the Australian Plant Census (APC) link above.
Type:"Queensland. Brisbane River, Moreton Bay, Bailey, Leichhardt (the latter with rather broader leaves); Herbert's Creek, Bowman; Gracemere, O'Shanesy."
Etymology:(not specified.) [but presumably named for the collector of the type material, Edward Macarthur Bowman (1826–1872)]
Comment:Bentham's spelling of the species epithet as bowmanni is here treated as resulting from an intentional latinisation of the surname of the collector of the type material. It is thus to be preserved under ICN Art. 60.7 (Melbourne Code, 2012) and is not correctable to bowmanii.
