Etymology: "Named in honour of William Henry Odgers (1828–1881), an under-secretary of the Victorian Chief Secretary’s Department, who supported Ferdinand von Mueller (the author of the name) in his cause of carrying out botanical research as an officer of the Victorian Government (see protologue, cited above; Sharr 1978)."
