Vascular Plants
Australian Plant Name Index (APNI)
The Australian Plant Name Index (APNI) is a tool for the botanical community that deals with plant names and their usage in the scientific literature, whether as a current name or synonym. APNI does not recommend any particular taxonomy or nomenclature. For a listing of currently accepted scientific names for the Australian vascular flora, please use the Australian Plant Census (APC) link above.
Text:"As noted by M.D.Tindale (op. cit.) 343 [i.e. Contr. New South Wales Natl Herb. 2: 343 (1956)], the type of this species, recorded as having been collected on Mt Lindesay in Australia, matches exactly the type of C. grevilleana Mart. (1834) from Jamaica; it is excluded here on the assumption that it was an error in specimen labelling."
APC Comment:A Jamaican taxon, referable to Cyathea grevilleana Mart., not known to occur in Australia. See M.D.Tindale, Contrib. New South Wales Nat. Herb. 2: 342-343 (1956) for discussion.
