Australian Plant Name Index (APNI)
The Australian Plant Name Index (APNI) is a tool for the botanical community that deals with plant names and their usage in the scientific literature, whether as a current name or synonym. APNI does not recommend any particular taxonomy or nomenclature. For a listing of currently accepted scientific names for the Australian vascular flora, please use the Australian Plant Census (APC) link above.
Comment:Mueller cites "F. v. M. in Britten's journ. of Botany XXII, 290 (1884)" as the place of publication of this name and does not list any synonyms. Mueller had indicated the combination in his earlier paper in J. Bot. (British & Foreign) 22: 290 (1884), by stating that "Endlicher's Pterocarpus australis... certainly does not belong to that genus, but appears referable either to Wistaria or Millettia, or possibly Lonchocarpus". However, he did not make the new combination in Wisteria or in any other genus in that earlier work. Wisteria australis (Endl.) F.Muell. is here considered validly published in this 1885 work via indirect reference to the basionym (ICN Art. 41.3, Melbourne Code, 2012), which appeared in Mueller's 1884 paper as cited.
