Comment: M.A.Clements, Austral. Orchid Res. 1: 94, 95 (1989), split this taxon into two parts, placing one part (pro parte max.) under M. arenaria Lindley and the other (pro parte min.) under M. pulchella R.Br.; he then wrongly lectotypified both parts.
