Australian Plant Name Index (APNI)
The Australian Plant Name Index (APNI) is a tool for the botanical community that deals with plant names and their usage in the scientific literature, whether as a current name or synonym. APNI does not recommend any particular taxonomy or nomenclature. For a listing of currently accepted scientific names for the Australian vascular flora, please use the Australian Plant Census (APC) link above.
Text:"Green (1988, p. 653) designated Schultz 796 (K 001057997*) as the neotype for Pteris nitida, based on the purported absence of a Brown specimen of the species. Brown (1810) specifically referenced seeing dried material and the Banks & Solander specimen (BM 001044066) is the only known available material collected prior to Brown’s publication and held at BM. Although Brown did not specifically cite ‘B’ [i.e. Banks and Solander material], it is here selected as the lectotype, superseding Green’s unnecessary neotypification."
