Australian Plant Name Index (APNI)
The Australian Plant Name Index (APNI) is a tool for the botanical community that deals with plant names and their usage in the scientific literature, whether as a current name or synonym. APNI does not recommend any particular taxonomy or nomenclature. For a listing of currently accepted scientific names for the Australian vascular flora, please use the Australian Plant Census (APC) link above.
Comment:The name “Cladium capillaceum Cheeseman var. capillaceum” is listed by A.D.Chapman, Austral. Pl. Name Index 732 (1991), but since the species name is illegitimate this autonym is not established, in accordance with ICN Art. 27.2 (Shenzhen Code, 2018).
Comment:nom. illeg., nom. superfl., as the epithet capillaris was available in Cladium in 1906 and thus ought to have been adopted by Clarke (ICN Art. 52.1 (Shenzhen Code, 2018)).
Comment:Authorship of this replacement name is here accepted as ascribed under ICN Art. 46.2 (Shenzhen Code, 2018), as contributions from Clarke are acknowledged by Cheeseman in the preface (p. vii) and in the introduction to the treatment of Cyperaceae (p. 763).
