Vascular Plants
Australian Plant Name Index (APNI)
The Australian Plant Name Index (APNI) is a tool for the botanical community that deals with plant names and their usage in the scientific literature, whether as a current name or synonym. APNI does not recommend any particular taxonomy or nomenclature. For a listing of currently accepted scientific names for the Australian vascular flora, please use the Australian Plant Census (APC) link above.
Comment:Presl refers the name to "Bernh." but while J.J.Bernhardi, Neues J. Bot. 1(2): 34 (1806), indicates that Lonchitis tenuifolia G.Forst. is the sole member of his new genus Hypolepis, he does not directly associate the genus and species names as required by ICN Art. 35.2 (Melbourne Code, 2012). Presl's reference to the basionym is indirect, via citation of Cheilanthes arborescens Sw., an illegitimate superflous name for Lonchitis tenuifolia G.Forst.
