Comment: This combination is sometimes attributed to R.Brown, Prodr. 224 (1810). Brown lists Scirpus maculosus Vahl as belonging to his new genus Eleocharis but does not definitely associate the genus and species names as required by ICN Art. 35.2 (Melbourne Code, 2012).
