  • APC Comment: The authority for this generic name has been the subject of some discussion. Brummitt (Taxon 37: 446 (1988)) recorded the decision of the Committee for Spermatophyta to conserve the name Brachystelma Sims against Microstemma R.Br. (a decision later ratified at the St Louis IBC) and recorded at that time there was some disagreement within the committee as to the correct author citation for the conserved name, either R.Br. or R.Br. ex Sims. This was subsequently resolved at the same Congress when the correct author citation was voted to be Brachystelma R.Br. (ICBN, Art. 46.2 Ex. 5).
