Vascular Plants
Australian Plant Name Index (APNI)
The Australian Plant Name Index (APNI) is a tool for the botanical community that deals with plant names and their usage in the scientific literature, whether as a current name or synonym. APNI does not recommend any particular taxonomy or nomenclature. For a listing of currently accepted scientific names for the Australian vascular flora, please use the Australian Plant Census (APC) link above.
Comment:Reference to basionym indirect, via Mueller's citation of "B. fl. VI, 298" [i.e. G.Bentham, Fl. Austral. 6: 298 (1873)] and "M. fr. VII, 97" [i.e. F.J.H. von Mueller, Fragm. 7(54): 97 (1870)], where the name given is Saccolabium hillii F.Muell.
Comment:Mueller attributes this name to "Bentham in Journ. Linn. Soc. XVIII, 334 (1880)". G.Bentham, J. Linn. Soc., Bot. 18: 334 (1881), states that Saccolabium hillii F.Muell. should be added to the genus Ornithochilus but does not definitely associate the genus name and species epithet as required under ICN Art. 35.2 (Shenzhen Code, 2018).
