  • Etymology: "From a combination and partial contraction of the Greek words anthēlē, the plume of a reed (Brown 1956), and lepis, a scale (both feminine), in reference to the hypogynous bristles at the base of the nutlet found in each of the included species that are variously hairy, and sometimes plumed."
