Etymology: "Named in honour of Cyril Ralph Crane (1938-1999), builder and enthusiastic orchidologist who discovered several new species while an official collector for the Queensland State Herbarium. Many of Ralph's trips were sponsored by the Australian Orchid Foundation and he sent duplicate specimens to the Australian National Herbarium in Canberra."
