The Australian Plant Name Index (APNI) is a tool for the botanical community that deals with plant names and their usage in the scientific literature, whether as a current name or synonym. APNI does not recommend any particular taxonomy or nomenclature. Etymology:"The epithet commemorates Robert Dunlop Royce (1914–2008), botanist at the Western Australian Herbarium from 1944 and Curator of that herbarium 1960–1974. Bob Royce collected numerous excellent specimens of Restionaceae, carefully matching males and females of dioecious species."
