  • Type: Queensland. Darling Downs District: Mingimarny State Forest 131, Pine Hill, 20 km S of Millmerran, 28 April 1995, P.I.Forster PIF16468 & S.J.Figg (holo: BRI [2 sheets + spirit]; iso: MEL).
  • Etymology: "The specific epithet is derived from the Latin adjective insularis (pertaining to islands) and alludes to the occurrence of this species on an isalnd of granite pavement, further surrounded by a 'sea' of cleared land."
