Etymology: "This species is named for Ms Helen Thompson, a staff member of the Australian Biological Resources Study almost from its inception, editor of many volumes of Flora of Australia (and Flora of Australia On-line), and a valued friend and colleague. She greatly assisted this project by scanning many of the illustrations for publication."
