Etymology: "The epithet is from the Latin villosus, alluding to the shaggy indumentum on the outer surface of the perianth, best seen in the bud stage and paricularly on the limb of the bud. It should be noted that what may appear to be single ascending hairs are in fact single arms of biramous hairs."
