The Australian Plant Name Index (APNI) is a tool for the botanical community that deals with plant names and their usage in the scientific literature, whether as a current name or synonym. APNI does not recommend any particular taxonomy or nomenclature. Etymology: "The epithet acknowledges the request of the discoverer of the species, Ms Jan Wellburn, that it be named after her father's farm 'Pythara', along one boundary of which this species grows. The epithet pythara is used as a noun in apposition, not adjectivally."
