  • Etymology: "The specific name is derived from the Greek zoe, life, referring to the living plant and xylocaryon (woody nut) referring to the fossilised fruit description of Xylocaryon lockii F.Muell. by F.J.H. von Mueller, Observations on new vegetable fossils of the auriferous drifts, Geologic Survey of Victoria, 1883."
