The Australian Plant Name Index (APNI) is a tool for the botanical community that deals with plant names and their usage in the scientific literature, whether as a current name or synonym. APNI does not recommend any particular taxonomy or nomenclature. Etymology:"Named after the noted CSIRO seed collector, Mr E. G. (Jerry) Cole who assisted in extensive botanical and seed collections of the new species in 1984."

APC Comment:Hybrids are recorded for NT between A. colei and A. cowleana (Maslin & Thomson, 1992; Maslin, 2001). The varieties of this species were not mentioned in Flora of Australia and are not currently recognised in NT.
