The Australian Plant Name Index (APNI) is a tool for the botanical community that deals with plant names and their usage in the scientific literature, whether as a current name or synonym. APNI does not recommend any particular taxonomy or nomenclature. For a listing of currently accepted scientific names for the Australian vascular flora, please use the Australian Plant Census (APC) link above.

Comment: Kunth attributes this name to "Endl. Gen. 133". While S.F.L.Endlicher, Gen. Pl. 2: 133 (1836), lists Philydrum pygmaeum R.Br. as the sole species included under Hetaeria Endl. he does not definitely associate the genus name with the specific epithet as required by ICN Art. 35.2 (Shenzhen Code, 2018).

Comment: Endlicher's citation of the name as "Hetaeria pygmaea E." was treated by L.G.Adams, Fl. Australia 45: 43 (1987), as a nom. illeg., presumably on the basis that it post-dated the publication of the name by Kunth (May 1841). This is here treated as a secondary reference by Endlicher rather than as a later isonym.
