Vascular Plants
Australian Plant Name Index (APNI)
The Australian Plant Name Index (APNI) is a tool for the botanical community that deals with plant names and their usage in the scientific literature, whether as a current name or synonym. APNI does not recommend any particular taxonomy or nomenclature. For a listing of currently accepted scientific names for the Australian vascular flora, please use the Australian Plant Census (APC) link above.
Lectotype:"Australia. New South Wales. Hastings River, s.dat., [H.] Beckler s.n. (lecto [designated here]: K 000736429; isolecto: BM, K 000736428 [with “Dr. B.”], MEL 539833]."
Text:"Typification: Four specimens collected by Dr H. Beckler from the type locality for
Vitis sterculiifolia have been located. A fertile specimen at K [K 000736429] is here
selected as the lectotype as it was examined by Bentham. The remaining specimens are probable isolectotypes. The K specimens, K 000736428 and K 000736429, are mounted
on the same sheet but with different data. Both were incorporated into the Herbarium
Hookerianum in 1867, thus postdating publication of the name. The MEL specimen
is labelled as a holotype; however, there is no evidence that it was seen by Bentham.
