Protea divaricata Andrews , nom. illeg., nom. superfl., scientific
Andrews, H.C. (1807), The Botanist's Repository for New, and Rare Plants 7: t. 465 BHL [primary reference]
  • Type: "This very distinct species of Protea we have not seen in any other collection than that of G.Hibbert, esq. nor is it as yet amongst the numerous fine dried specimens in the herbarium of A.B. Lambert."
  • Comment: nom. illeg. non L. (1771). Origin given as Cape of Good Hope by Andrews, but treated as Australian by subsequent authors. Stafleu & Cowan, Tax. Lit. ed. 2, 1 (1976) 51 give the author as "probably ... George Jackson", but as there is no such indication in the work itself, Andrews has been accepted here as the author.
