Vascular Plants
Australian Plant Name Index (APNI)
The Australian Plant Name Index (APNI) is a tool for the botanical community that deals with plant names and their usage in the scientific literature, whether as a current name or synonym. APNI does not recommend any particular taxonomy or nomenclature. For a listing of currently accepted scientific names for the Australian vascular flora, please use the Australian Plant Census (APC) link above.
APC Comment:A.D.Chapman, Austral. Pl. Name Index 2592 (1991), stated that Poiret did not validly make the combination Schoenus calostachyus and indicated that the combination was validly made by Roemer & Schultes (Syst. Veg. 16th edn, 2: 77 (1817)). However, under Article 33.1 of the 2006 (Vienna) edition of the ICBN, this name is considered to be validly published by Poiret and Roemer & Schultes' use of this name is considered to be a secondary reference.
