The Australian Plant Name Index (APNI) is a tool for the botanical community that deals with plant names and their usage in the scientific literature, whether as a current name or synonym. APNI does not recommend any particular taxonomy or nomenclature. Comment:A.D.Chapman, Austral. Pl. Name Index 2574 (1991) lists the name Scaevola frutescens (Mill.) K.Krause var. frutescens, but since the species name is illegitimate this autonym is not established, in accordance with ICN Art. 27.2 (Melbourne Code, 2012).
