The Australian Plant Name Index (APNI) is a tool for the botanical community that deals with plant names and their usage in the scientific literature, whether as a current name or synonym. APNI does not recommend any particular taxonomy or nomenclature. For a listing of currently accepted scientific names for the Australian vascular flora, please use the Australian Plant Census (APC) link above.

Comment: Although contained in a paper authored by Schott, the species name is ascribed to "Ferd. Mueller" and Schott mentions in a preceding paragraph that the description was also provided by Mueller (albeit with some parenthetical additions by Schott indicated with the initial "S."). On this basis authorship of the name is here accepted as ascribed following ICN Art. 46.2 (Shenzhen Code, 2018).

Comment: This was listed under a separate entry for "Typhonium liliifolium... Mueller, F.J.H. von ex Schott, H.W." by A.D.Chapman, Austral. Pl. Name Index 2924 (1991). However, Schott ascribes the name to Mueller, refers to the type locality of Typhonium liliifolium F.Muell. (1859), and indicates that he had seen a specimen sent to him by the author ("v. s. specim. ab auctore mecum benevole communicatum"). This is here treated as secondary reference by Schott to an earlier publication of the name by Mueller, despite an error in Schott's citation of the Mueller reference. -
Comment: Schott ascribes this name to "Ferd. Müller. (Hook. Jour. of Bot. 1856. p. 321.)", citing the first page number of a paper by F.J.H. von Mueller, Hooker's J. Bot. Kew Gard. Misc. 8: 321–331 (1856). On p. 329 of that paper Mueller refers to "a new... Typhonium" but does not provide a species name.
