Vascular Plants
Australian Plant Name Index (APNI)
The Australian Plant Name Index (APNI) is a tool for the botanical community that deals with plant names and their usage in the scientific literature, whether as a current name or synonym. APNI does not recommend any particular taxonomy or nomenclature. For a listing of currently accepted scientific names for the Australian vascular flora, please use the Australian Plant Census (APC) link above.
Comment:Reference to replaced synonym indirect, via Mueller's citation of the place of publication of this name as "F. v. M., fragm. VIII, 175 (1874)". While F.J.H. von Mueller, Fragm. 8: 175 (1874), discusses his belief that Dicksonia antarctica is not an appropriate name and that the epithet should thus be substituted with one honouring the first person to describe the species [i.e. Labillardière], he does not definitely associate the genus name and a new specific epithet as required under ICN Art. 35.2 (Shenzhen Code, 2018).
