  • Etymology: "The specific name elliptica is already preoccupied for a species of Leptospermum, hence it is proposed to dedicate this rather distinctive series of plants to Mr. Cyril Tenison White, Government Botanist of Queensland, who has done so much towards the investigation of the flora of Queensland."
  • Comment: nom. nov., non Leptospermum ellipticum Endl. (1837).
