Type comment: Gourett indicates he is using this name on the individuals illustrated by Pouchet, G. (1883), Contribution a l'histoire des cilio-flagelles. Journal de l'Anatomie et de la Physiologie Normales et Pathologiques de l'Homme et des Animaux as C. fusus. -
AMANI comment: Gourret uses the same illustration in Pouchet as a synonym for Ceratium fusus var concavum.
