Type comment:This is a new name for the entity described by Jorgesen 1911 as C. arcuatum. It is not a new name for the entity described by Pavillard 1907 from the Gulf of Lion as Ceratium karstenii.
Comment:This is a new name for Ceratium arcuatum (Gourrett) Vanhoffen. Jorgesen 1920 cites Jorgesen 1911: 43 as equivalent and specifically excludes C. arcuatum sensu Cleve = Ceratium karstenii Pavillard.
