Comment:Jorgensen 1920 Report of the Danish oceanographic Expedition to the Mediterranean 1908-1910 vol II p 72 states that C. contortum Cleve is a new taxon and not the same as the supposed basionym C tripos var contortum (Gourrett) Karsten. He provides a new name for the latter Ceratium concilans
