Comment: Fletcher (1987) appeared unsure of the placement of this Harvey name. On page 112 he placed the name as a heterotypic synonym of M. strangulans and on page 195 he placed the name as a heterotypic synonym of Chilonema ocellatum. Womersley 1987 The Marine Benthic Flora of Southern Australia Pt II p 61 indicates the latter genus contains undescribed taxa in southern Australia.
