Comment: Womersley originally kept this taxon separate from S. radiciformis but in Womersley (1987) The Marine Benthic Flora of Southern Australia Pt II:284, he made them synonyms. Millar (1998) Norfolk Island Algae Aust Syst Bot 11 continues to separate the two taxa. This latter situation has been followed only in order to communicate the differences in views in the phycological community.. -
