The Australian Algae Name Index (AANI) is a tool for the botanical community that deals with algae names and their usage in the scientific literature, whether as a current name or synonym. AANI does not recommend any particular taxonomy or nomenclature. For a listing of currently accepted scientific names for the Australian Algae, please use the Australian Algae List (AAL) link above.

Comment: This taxon although recorded by Harvey (1855 Transactions of the Royal Irish Academy 22:536) is not found in mainland Australia but is recorded for Norfolk Island. Womersley 1967 Australian Journal of Botany 15:215 discusses two specimens from Harvey's exsiccatae # 73A, 73B: #73B = D. nigricans (as Glossophora nigricans); #73A = un-named species of Dictyota (as Pachydictyon sp.). Womersley does not discuss the specimens # 61 and 225 cited in Harvey 1855 p. 536. The Chapman record (1997 Botanica Marina 20:161) has not been discussed by Millar 1999 Aust. Syst. Bot. 12(4):479-547 nor subsequently. -
