Comment:This is a new name based on the type of Conferva gracilis Griffiths ex Harvey non Wulfen. See Silva et al. 1996:773 for nomenclatural details. Womersley 1984 The Marine Benthic Flora of Southern Australia Pt I p. 210 includes C. gracilis as a synonym of C. sericea but this has been shown not to be supported.
