The Australian Algae Name Index (AANI) is a tool for the botanical community that deals with algae names and their usage in the scientific literature, whether as a current name or synonym. AANI does not recommend any particular taxonomy or nomenclature. For a listing of currently accepted scientific names for the Australian Algae, please use the Australian Algae List (AAL) link above.
Showing Gracilaria canaliculata
-
APC Comment: ABRS (2011) uses this taxon concept.
-
Comment: This name is the accepted basionym for Gracilaria canaliculata but is based on the type of Sphaerococcus canaliculatus Kuetzing non C. Agardh. Withell et al. (1994) Aust. Syst. Bot. 7:297, 345 believe that if this taxon is treated as an heterotypic synonym of G. salicornia then it represents a distinct subspecies. -
Comment: Some Australian records are G. eucheumatoides especially those in northern Australia see Withell et al. (1994:345). -
AMANI dist.: Western Australia (Houtman Abrolhos, Dampierian), Queensland (Dampierian). World: Red Sea, Indian Ocean, Papua New Guinea, New Caledonia.
