Type locality: Holotype: MELU, 22897 (Fig. 2). Type Locality: Wistari Reef, near Heron Island (23° 35's 151° 54'E), Capricorn Group, Great Barrier Reef Province, Queensland (Fig. 1). Collected with isotype (MELU, 22898) from 28 m depth at the north-east end of the reef by D. Fisk on 14 November, 1976. The area is a channel floor subject to strong tidal surge in which low coral mounds (bommies) are widely dispersed across a flat covered in coarse coral sand. -
