Comment: This name is the accepted basionym for Sargassum odontocarpum but is based on the type of Sargassum echinocarpum Greville non J. Agardh. This taxon has not been found by Phillips & Price (1997 Aust Syst Bot , as Sargassum corifolium). Australian distribution is unclear. These authors also place Sargassum odontocarpum as an heterotypic synonym of Sargassum cinctum. -
