Brachyscome glauca Walp., legitimate, scientific secondary reference apni
Short, P.S. (1 December 2014), A taxonomic review of Brachyscome Cass. s.lat. (Asteraceae: Astereae), including description of a new genus, Roebuckia, new species and new infraspecific taxa. Journal of the Adelaide Botanic Gardens 28: 190 [secondary reference]
orthographic variant: Brachycome glauca Walp. orth. var.
  • Text: "Sonder (1853, p. 477) [i.e. Sonder, O. Plantae Muellerianae. Beitrag zur Flora Sudaustaliens, aus den Sammlungen des Dr Ferd. Muller. Compositae. Linnaea 25: 450–530 (1853)] listed the species, noting "fide spec. authent. a beat Lucae commun. Australia felix, Joisse." According to Stafleu & Cowan (1976–1988) [i.e. Stafleu, F.A. & Cowan, R.S. Taxonomic literature (ed. 2). (Bohn, Scheltema & Holkema: Utrecht) (1967-1988)], duplicates of Lucae's herbarium are at BR, MW, P & W. I did not see an appropriately labelled specimen in W during a visit in 2006 but have not checked the other herbaria. I have also searched in MEL, where much of Sonder's personal herbarium is housed (e.g. Short 1990) [i.e. Short, P.S. Politics and the purchase of private herbaria by the National Herbarium of Victoria. In: Short, P.S. (ed.), History of systematic botany in Australasia, pp. 5–12. (Australian Systematic Botany Society: Melbourne) (1990)], but to no avail. Walpers indicated that the species is close to B. marginata [= B. dentata]. Bentham listed it under B. stricta (i.e. B. aculeata), but it was not placed under B. aculeata by Stace (1981) [i.e. Stace, H.M. Biosystematics of the Brachyscome aculeata (Labill.) Less. sensu G.L. Davis species complex (Compositae: Astereae). Australian Journal of Botany 29: 425–440 (1981)]."
